Check out this clip from WCAX about the May 2011 Envirothon! May 2011 Vermont Envirothon on WCAX So, what IS Envirothon? The Vermont Envirothon mission is to connect students to the natural resources of their community. We introduce students to the local and state contacts and organizations who manage, monitor, and mentor natural and human resources. Envirothon has a focus on aquatics, forestry, soils, and wildlife with an annual topical issue that ties all of the study issues together. This year, the current issue is “Non-Point Source Pollution and Low Impact Development.” Each of the Envirothon’s five areas contains a variety of activities with content addressed in the Vermont Framework of Standards and Learning Opportunities for both f Envirothon teams receive an information-filled resource guide and trainings with resource professionals. This year's specific events include a training day on April 4, 2012 at Marsh Billings Rockefeller NHP in Woodstock and the Vermont Envirothon competition on May 15, 2012 at Shelburne Farms. The team that scores highest in all areas at the competition will represent the state at the Canon North American Envirothon. This event will be held this year at Susquehana University in Pennsylvania from July 22-28, 2012. We encourage registration as early as possible to provide students with enough time to become familiar with the topics. Looking for more information? Contact Carrie via the link below. Information about the Canon North American Envirothon can be found at www.envirothon.org. We hope you will be able to join us this year in this worthwhile program!
