VACD Mission
The Association is a non-profit organization of Vermont's 14 Conservation Districts whose mission is to help the Districts carry out natural resource oriented programs at the local level.
The Board of Directors of VACD consists of elected representatives from each Conservation District, the President, Vice President, Secretary, and the Treasurer who serve the interests of all Districts. The Board of Directors also has representatives from the United States Department of Agricultures' Natural Resource Conservation Service and the Natural Resources Conservation Council as advisory members. The Board of Directors operates within the by laws of VACD and according to policies set by the Association. Elections are held at the annual VACD meeting while the concerns and interests of Districts are conducted before the Board through quarterly meetings.
The VACD Executive Board consists of its elected officers and the immediate past president. Representatives of NRCS and NRCC serve as advisors to this body. The Executive Director carries out the day to day business of the Association, maintains liasons with other state and national agencies and organizations with natural resource concerns, and operates according to Association by laws and established policies. The Executive Board meets every other month or more often as necessary.
Specific goals of VACD are accomplished through the Legislative, and Capacity Building, and the Education and Information committees.
