Plans
Plans are made of three major components. Tests help determine the level of nutrients on the farm in the soil and manure and along with expected yields, soil type, and crop history, determine fertilizer and manure recommendations. Record keeping produces documentation of the tests, recommendations, environmental practices, and the actual crop yields. GIS maps identify the fields, acreage's, and are used to show test results, and yields and to implement recommendations, and environmental practices.
The annually updated farm plan will help produce economic yields with economic use of inputs, optimal utilization of manure while protecting the environment.
Nutrient Management Plans promote clean water and conservation by applying proper nutrients at proper times and identifying environmentally sensitive areas. Plans will meet USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service and State of Vermont guidelines.
