Tree Revetments are a method to control brook bank erosion using approximately 15 foot tall, cut, bushy evergreen trees or tree tops from logging. Locally could use Hemlock, Spruce, or Cedar and trees would resemble an over grown Christmas tree.

Trees are laid horizontally along the toe of of the brook bank, tops pointing downstream and are secured to the bank and to each other with duck bills and wire cable. They slow the flow of the water and catch sediment and the bank as it falls in. Bushes and trees are also planted to help stabilize the area.

The District has assisted local revetment projects such as one pictured below.

The District is stocking for resale, the Tree Revetment Supplies that are needed to secure tree revetments: duckbills, cable, clamps and drive bar.
