Public Meetings Held in the Poultney Mettowee Watershed during 2002

The following public meetings were held during 2002:

  • Castleton Town Fair (03/09/02) — presented information on the basin planning process and proposed revisions to the Castleton Town Plan
  • West Rutland Selectboard Meeting (03/11/02) — West Rutland Marsh Project.
  • Mettowee TMDL Public Meeting (03/26/02) - Project Overview, Temperature Criteria for Fish, the Field Program - featuring design, methods, and results, the River Water Temperature Modeling Application, and a Summary and Discussion of Project Completion and Potential Implementation of Management Plans
  • Public Meeting of the Watershed Partnership/ Watershed Council — (04/18/02) — geomorphic assessment followed by an evening meeting regarding river dynamics and the value of buffers by VTDEC Rivers Management program.
  • VACD supervisors’ workshop on Basin Planning (04/25/02).
  • Tour of Water Quality Concerns in the Basin (06/05/02).
  • Poultney Mettowee Watershed Partnership meeting and Better Backroads Workshop (09/10/02).
  • Gully Brook/ Castleton River Restoration and Stewardship meeting with landowners and farmers along the Castleton River in Castleton (10/18/02).
  • Castleton Source Water Protection and Stormwater Runoff meeting (12/ 04).
  • Poultney Mettowee Watershed Partnership Legislative Luncheon (12/19/02).

Classification and Typing Meetings held with Municipal Planning and Selectboards in the following towns during 2002:

Benson, Castleton, Danby, Fair Haven, Hubbardton, Middleton Springs, Pawlet, Tinmouth, Wells, West Haven, and West Rutland. In addition, the Watershed Coordinator has held similar meetings for large landowners in the basin, such as The Nature Conservancy.
