The Vermont Envirothon is a state-wide competition for high school students based on soil, forestry, wildlife, and aquatic ecosystem related topics. The Envirothon is a partnership of Conservation Districts, Federal and State agencies, and other organizations that work towards the conservation and stewardship of natural resources. The competition challenges students’ knowledge of the environment as well as their natural resource problem solving skills. Envirothon emphasizes teamwork, critical thinking skills, and creative investigation. The format of the competition incorporates in-class curriculum along with field experiences. The winning team at the state-wide competition then goes on to represent Vermont at the International Envirothon.
