2006 TROUT STOCKING PROGRAM
Sponsored by the Windham County Natural Resources Conservation District
28 Vernon Street, Suite 2, Brattleboro, VT 05301
802 254-5323 Ext. 104
When you stock your pond with trout your world is enriched. Summer sunsets become a time for standing at water's edge, watching the rainbows rise to a hatch of insects. Your kids can practice their casts all season long. Grandkids can peer over the edge of the rowboat, watching the trout dart away from the shadows it throws on the bottom.
Here are the details:
- Orders will be taken until May 5th
- 6-8" Fish will need to be picked up at Agway in Brattleboro at 1:00 pm on May 12th
- 10-12" Fish will be delivered on May 12th
- Trout will be forfeited if they are not picked up during the allotted time frame Arriving a little early is safer than too late
Before stocking, check your pond for suitability for trout. Water depth should be at least 8 feet. (This can be measured with a weighted rope.) Your pond's water should be clear (clear enough, for example, to see a white
10" diameter object at a depth of 6 feet or more.) And the bottom temperature in the summer shouldn't exceed
68 degrees F. Rainbows can tolerate warmer water than brook trout.
