The Winooski Natural Resources Conservation District (NRCD) is a non-profit organization servicing the Winooski River Watershed, Browns River, and portions of Lake Champlain's sub–watersheds, including all the land and resources within Chittenden and Washington counties and three towns in Orange County. Founded in 1940, we are dedicated to providing on-the-ground conservation assistance as well as promoting public awareness and appreciation for the value of conserving our natural resources. | 2010 Rooftop to River Rain Garden Contest
During the summer of 2010 the Winooski Natural Resources Conservation District and UVM Extension Lake Champlain Sea Grant are partnering to hold the 3rd Annual Rooftop to River Rain Garden Contest. A special thanks to the Vermont Agency of Natural Resources for supporting this project!

The Winooski River Landowner Assistance Guide is now available!! This comprehensive guide is designed to assist landowners who have an interest in natural resource conservation with understanding the many different types of local, state and federal assistance programs and money available to them. Chittenden and Washington Counties Local Growers Guides
The Chittenden and Washington Counties Local Growers Guides are a joint project of the Winooski NRCD and the UVM Center for Rural Studies (see http://crs.uvm.edu/growersguide.htm). The guides are resources for consumers interested in purchasing local agricultural products and includes CSAs, farmers markets, farm stands, and farms producing meat, dairy, and value-added products in Chittenden and Washington Counties. An online, searchable database of locally produced food for the Champlain Valley and central Vermont is currently available at www.vermontgrowersguide.com. Printed guides will be distributed in the spring of 2010. |
