The Grand Isle County Natural Resources Conservation District (GICNRCD) recently hosted a hands-on tour at Morgan Hill Farmoffering a behind-the-scenes look at flower farming from seed to bouquet. The tour highlighted the farm’s use of soil blocking, a method that supports healthy root development in seedlings. Visitors also learned how the farm’s high tunnel and caterpillar tunnel, both funded with support from the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), help extend the growing season by protecting delicate flowers from Vermont’s elements, allowing for earlier starts and longer harvests. Representatives from NRCS were on site to discuss conservation funding and resources available to local growers.
