Since 1998 the Rural Fire Protection Task Force (RFP) has worked to improve the safety and welfare of Vermont communities by assisting local fire departments in reducing the risk of injury, loss of life, and damage to property and natural resources.

This past year RFP worked with the Newport Volunteer Fire Department to create a new large fire pond. They installed two new dry hydrants to improve fire protection throughout the Town of Newport and the surrounding area. This new facility replaced the existing hydrant system that was deemed inadequate and unreliable.
