The Lamoille County Conservation District (LCCD) hosted a community meeting in Morrisville to discuss future projects at Oxbow Park. The event brought together local residents and partners to explore ideas for improving the park. A panel of representatives from the Vermont DEC, Vermont River Conservancy, Lamoille County Planning Commission, Morrisville Conservation Commission, and other local organizations joined the discussion. Panelists shared background on current planning efforts at Oxbow Park and other community spaces in the state including floodplain restoration, river access, and park management. Attendees contributed ideas about what they’d most like to see at Oxbow Park ranging from habitat restoration to educational and recreational features and public gathering spaces. After the meeting, a group of attendees took a short walk down the road to visit the site in person and see progress of a tree planting project implemented last October. This meeting is part of LCCD’s ongoing effort to support locally driven conservation and ensure community input shapes the future of Oxbow Park.
