Trees for Streams – Request for Applications
Introduction and Program Goals
The State Natural Resources Conservation Council (NRCC) is pleased to announce the release of the 2026 Trees for Streams (TFS) Request for Applications. Approximately $200,000 is available this round to support riparian buffer planting projects across Vermont. Funded projects will establish about 20 acres of riparian buffers in targeted watersheds to improve water quality and enhance aquatic and riparian habitats along Vermont’s streams, rivers, and lakes. Applications are due Monday, November 3, 2025.
A program webinar will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2025. Please reach out to Jess Miller if you would like to receive an invitation. The webinar will be recorded and posted here when available.
Trees for Streams receives funding from multiple sources, including the Enhancement Riparian Buffer Grant (ERBG). Watersheds United Vermont (WUV) also holds the ERBG and has an open funding round. NRCC recommends that local watershed groups apply to WUV for planting funds. However, all eligible entities may apply through any Funding Program Administrator for DEC planting funds if there is a need.
