Willow Stake Workshop

Ted Sedell of the Orleans County NRCD and Clara Fernandez Odell of the Essex County NRCD led a willow staking workshop during the annual Orleans County NRCD tree and plant sale on May 3rd in Barton. Hosted at the Orleans County Fairgrounds, the event brought together community members to learn about conservation efforts while picking up native plants. The workshop focused on planting willow stake fascines, bundles of live willow branches used to stabilize riverbanks and prevent erosion. Participants got hands-on experience with best practices for installing these structures.
