A tour of Bobolink Farm was organized by the Winooski Natural Resources Conservation District, with support by UVM Extension and the Vermont Grass Farmers Association. Owners, Bruce and Carol, showed off Bobolink Farm’s new covered barnyard for their sheep flock. After a decade on an outside bedded pack, their flock now has a dry place for winter feeding and lambing. They shared how water quality grants supported this project because it greatly reduced nutrient runoff and how the new facility reduced health problems, feed waste, and simplified the farmers’ lives. They also demonstrated their grazing system, pasture soil health, and forage quality concerns.
