The Winooski Natural Resources Conservation District (NRCD) is a non-profit organization servicing the Winooski River Watershed, Browns River, and portions of Lake Champlain's sub–watersheds, including all the land and resources within Chittenden and Washington counties and three towns in Orange County. Founded in 1940, we are dedicated to providing on-the-ground conservation assistance as well as promoting public awareness and appreciation for the value of conserving our natural resources. Click on the menu links on the left to learn more about rain barrels, rain gardens, our annual tree sale, and our many other watershed stewardship and conservation initiatives. |

Vermont Low Impact Development Atlas & Map
The Winooski NRCD and UVM Extension Lake Champlain Sea Grant are working in partnership to create a Low Impact Development (LID) Atlas and Map, which will be part of the larger National LID Atlas (http://clear.uconn.edu/tools/lidmap/) created by the National Nonpoint Education for Municipal Officials (NEMO) Network. The Vermont LID Atlas & Map will raise awareness of LID projects as a solution to residential stormwater management, reinforce the link between LID projects and water quality, and provide residents with successful examples of local LID projects. For more information or to include your LID practice in the Vermont LID Atlas & Map, visit the VT LID Atlas & Map page.

2009 Chittenden and Washington Counties Local Growers Guides
The 2009 Chittenden and Washington Counties Local Growers Guides are a joint project of the Winooski NRCD and the UVM Center for Rural Studies (see http://crs.uvm.edu/growersguide.htm). The guides are resources for consumers interested in purchasing local agricultural products and includes CSAs, farmers markets, farm stands, and farms producing meat, dairy, and value-added products in Chittenden and Washington Counties. The 2009 Chittenden and Washington Counties Local Growers Guides will be available online this summer and printed copies will be distributed in July. |
